Why Does BTTB 7 Prevent Sims 4 From Launching?
Possible Causes
1. Path Length Limitation
Windows has a limit of 260 characters for file paths. If the path to your BTTB mod is too long, it can prevent the game from launching.
Fix:
- Move the mod folder to a location with a shorter path by renaming the folder.
2. Corrupted Mod File
During downloading the package file or extracting the zip file, the file may be corrupted.
Fix:
- Download the file again.
- Extract the file again.
3. DS_STORE or _MACOSX
DS_STORE is a hidden file that is created by macOS. It can prevent the game from launching, but it's not the most common cause.
Fix:
- On Windows, force show Hidden Files by clicking
View > Hidden Itemson the Explorer menu bar. - Delete all
DS_STOREand_MACOSXfiles in the mod folder.
4. Game Version Mismatch
Your game version might be outdated. BTTB 7 is built for the latest Sims 4 patch. Older game versions may lack the ability to read newer CAS Part versions or tuning resources referenced by this mod.
Fix:
- Update your game to the latest patch.
- Update Mods to the latest version.
5. Corrupted localthumbcache.package
The localthumbcache.package file stores old data from previous mods.
If you recently updated BTTB or removed an old version, the cache might still hold references to the old data, creating a conflict.
Fix:
Delete localthumbcache.package in your Sims 4 folder. The game will generate a clean one automatically.
